Exchange Funding:
· A federal Exchange grant of $1 million was given to the Mississippi Department of Insurance in September 2010.
- A federal level One Establishment grant of $20 million in August 2011. The Establishment Grant will be used to conduct public education and outreach programs, plan the Exchange’s IT infrastructure, and continue to coordinate with other public programs such as Medicaid and CHIP.

Additional Information:
- The state's elected Commission of Insurance announced Mississippi would pursue the state-based exchange, though Governor Bryant has opposed a state-based exchange.
- The Comprehensive Health Insurance Risk Pool Association has advised on the implementation of an exchange, including planning a multi-phased approach. The Association is run by an 11 person Board of Directors.
