17% of Pennsylvanians are enrolled in Medicaid. 82% of beneficiaries have managed care. Pennsylvania’s current Medicaid program covers up to 300% FPL depending on the specific program.
Expansion of Medicaid to 133% FPL would be a 22% increase over current enrollment.
The governor has expressed concerns over the cost expanding Medicaid and the state legislature has demonstrated opposition to the ACA.
· Pennsylvania was one of the states to sue for repeal of the ACA.
· Governor Corbett has said that expanding Medicaid would come at a great cost. He has contacted DHHS requesting further information on EHB benchmarks.
· Republican members of the state legislature have proposed and backed legislation blocking any expansion, which Democratic members have proposed legislation supporting the implementation of the ACA. The Governor did not including any Expansion funding in his 2013-2014 budget proposal.
