Background:
·         Currently:
17% of Washington residents are enrolled in Medicaid. 88% of beneficiaries have managed care. The state's current Medicaid covers up to 300% FPL depending on the specific program.
·         Expansion:
Expansion of Medicaid to 133% FPL would be a 25% increase over current enrollment.
·         Process:
Both the incoming and outgoing governors support the expansion of Medicaid so the state will move forward with implementation.
State Activity:
·         Washington has received an 1115 Waiver to expand coverage to non-pregnant adults through 133% FPL who are not otherwise eligible for Medicaid, Medicare, or another state benefits program.
·         Washington was one of the states to sue for repeal of the ACA, but new Governor Jay Inslee is supportive of the ACA .
·         The state has included study of vulnerable populations, including Northwest Tribes, in their evaluation of Medicaid expansion.
·         The state has a contact for health care reform questions and comments as well as a website dedicated to the expansion.
