·         The Wyoming Department of Insurance received a federal Exchange Planning grant of $800,000 in September 2010. Additionally, HB 0050 appropriated $145,000 from the General Fund for any portions of the study not paid by the federal grant.
 
Additional Information:
 
  • The decision to default to the federally-run exchange was made with the possibility of pursuing a state-based exchange at a future point.
  • The Wyoming Health Insurance Exchnage Steering Committee was established by Governor Mead and provided an analysis and recommendations on an exchange in the state.
  • The federal government will assume full responsibility for running a health insurance exchange in Wyoming starting in 2014.
