The information below was created to assist providers in learning about the specific developments in the health care systems in your state, and how to connect to those systems to retain access to your patients and participate in public and commercial insurance payment systems.

The Health Reform Law

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) law, includes many provisions important to HIV patients and HIV care providers in every state, including the Medicaid Expansion Option and the Individual Mandate to obtain health coverage.

The law also created the new State Insurance Exchanges (Marketplaces) and established Tax Credits for low to middle-income patients who purchase new Qualified Health Plans. The law laid out the Plan Premiums and Pricing and also required coverage of certain Essential Health Benefits. The law also required the plans contract with certain Essential Community Providers, such as Ryan White clinics.
