Academy Joins Advocates in D.C. for USCHA
The theme of the 29th U.S. Conference on HIV/AIDS is HIV and Aging. This event will shine a light on people with HIV, creating space for conversations about how aging uniquely affects each of us.
Pre-Institute on Clinical Guidelines
On Friday, September 5 at 8:00 a.m., the Education Department of the Academy will be presenting an institute on Clinical Guidelines and Recommendations for Meeting the Needs of an Aging Population with HIV. We will be looking at the Academy’s HIV and Aging Resource, with an eye towards future needs for patients and clinicians and the advocacy that supports them, particularly in this political moment.
We are already just eight days away from USCHA and look forward to welcoming any and all Academy members who will be in D.C. for this event. Click here to confirm your registration.
Please reach out to us at chauncey@aahivm.org so that we can be sure to greet you and perhaps grab a cup of coffee.
Safety First
Meanwhile, President Trump has deployed federal law enforcement agencies and the National Guard on the streets of Washington D.C. On July 24, he issued an Executive Order, Ending Crime and Disorder on America’s Streets.
While guests of the conference are on private property, they may not have any cause to be hypervigilant. However, since there will be several events throughout the city, we encourage our members to be informed and alert, but not fearful, while they move around the city.
NMAC has created safety guidance for USCHA participants that you can view and download. NMAC will also post updated safety information on the conference app during the conference as this situation continues to unfold. The app should be available starting August 26.
