AAHIVM STUDENT ADVISORY BOARD

The AAHIVM Student Advisory Board (SAB) is a dynamic and diverse group of student members dedicated to shaping the future of Sexual Health education and professional development. The SAB will play a vital role in ensuring the Academy’s student-facing content, events, and engagement strategies are relevant, inclusive, and impactful.

The SAB will provide essential feedback and recommendations on student-focused programs, including curriculum development, survey design, event planning, and outreach efforts. Members will also serve as ambassadors to promote AAHIVM’s resources to student peers and networks.

Objectives and Role
The objectives of the Student Advisory Board are to:

  • Assist with the advancement of workforce development by identifying drivers of medical student career choices and developing strategies to encourage careers in sexual health and HIV, especially in underserved communities
  • Offer insight into the educational and professional needs of students interested in Sexual Health, with emphasis on HIV prevention, treatment, and care;
  • Provide feedback on student-targeted Academy programs and materials, including content updates and learning resources;
  • Assist in the development and review of surveys, events, and outreach efforts aimed at student audiences;
  • Inform recruitment strategies to expand student engagement with AAHIVM;
  • Act as a liaison between AAHIVM and student communities, offering ongoing input on the student experience.

SAB members will serve in a consultative role, and their perspectives will inform decisions made by AAHIVM leadership and staff in the planning and implementation of student programming.
